This antique map was found recently in an estate in France with other maps which will be also listed. This is apparently by map maker Jean Bourguignon D’Anville 1764. There is some foxing and the photos form the most part of the description. We are not experts in this field unfortunately so please feel free to ask questions.
This is a detailed map of ancient Turkey showing the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea and islands, Crete, Cyprus, part of Armenia, and Syria, with many ancient place names throughout the map. Includes an Inset at the top with a map of Troy and a smaller one of the Bosphorus. D'Annville was the Royal French cartographer and was elected to the Academie des Sciences in 1773. His maps are noted for their scientific accuracy and were copied by many subsequent cartographers.
